cold start, hesitations

Does any else have a very cold natured 6.0 PSD? Even when temps are about 35, if I don't let mine idle for 10-15 minutes, it hesitates real bad. I mean like it is not getting fuel at all. After the warm up, it is fine.

The oil is really thick and doesn't flow very well. The injectors require engine oil to fire at a certain pressure. so the faster the engine fires the more engine oil in volume to keep the correct pressure to the injector. I learned this from our local teck as I had the same question.

Mine is cold blooded, but after 5 minutes off idling it is usally good for a diesel. Are you able to plug it in. That will help a lot.

Mine idles rough in cool weather and cold weather on start up. 2003 6L, I let it run for about 5 minutes and it smooths out and goes into high idle mode. I thought this was only with PTO tranny option but mine does it... anyway once it goes into high idle I let it run for about a minute and touch the brake, which slows idle down and everything is fine.

Just dont start it up and take off, thats been my experience.

A person should always let a diesel or any other engine warm up for 10-15 minutes, especially in cold weather. You might have the beginning of some injectors going bad. After warming my truck up for 15 minutes I would have hesitation at mid temperature range and like yours it would smooth out at running temp. A couple of days ago I just had 3 faulty injectors replaced at 95,000 miles. I started out with the same problem you are having.

I would make sure you have the latest flash. There is a new one to fix the cold injector stiction issue. Since I got my flash, my truck doesent "jump" and Smoke when cold.

Also, you should use an ODB reader to see if you have any codes. You may have some glow plug issues.
