Installing Power Intake Elbow?

I've seen the pictures of an install, but I can't find any instructions. Mine came today. I assume just take the bolts loose, and the o-ring stays in place, and I transfer the hose from the factory to the new elbow. My truck is a '06.

How important is the torque on the elbow? What do I torque the bolts on the elbow and on the hose clamps?

I'm hoping for some intown mileage increase. I'll report back on what I'm seeing after the install.

Not sure about the torque but I am sure you do not want to lose the O-Ring down the hole. Lift one side up slowly and secure the ring before removing.

i just installed mine on my 2006 ps, its very simple just loosen the clamp on the black hose, remove the 4 bolts, remove the metal o ring from the groove on the black pipe, pull the factory elbow out of the black pipe, remove the gasket from the bottom of the factory elbow, install the new elbow into the black plastic pipe, install the gasket into the groove on the new elbow, next install the 4 bolts but do not tighten all the way, next reinstall the metal o ring back in its place and the hose clamp, tighten hose clap all the way, then finish tigtening or torqueing, then you ar done...............this is how i have done the last 4 i have installed.

WHOA?! What metal o-ring from the groove? And what black pipe because I never knew about an oring.. Black pipe I assume you are refering to that rubber hose that connects the intake elbow to the outpipe of the Intercooler?!

You got me curious know as to what black pipe and metal oring you refer to.. I know of the oring on the elbow where the bolts are.. That seal it to the other pipe..

The newer 05 and 06's have the o-ring on the Elbow, the 03 and 04's have it on the butterfly housing not the elbow.

Not entirely.. Because I found out I can use the 05-07 Elbow by simplying removing the Throttle Valve..

Thats why I was thrown for a second when you said O-ring.. Wonder how that would work if I had removed the Valve lol..

Just installed my accu-fab elbow this afternoon. Very simple and straight forward. While I had it off though, I noticed build up of black sooty grease type material on the EGR valve (or housing) on the inside of the intake hole. The rest of the interior of the intake casting looked pretty clean. Should I worry about that or leave it be? And was that the valve itself or just the housing it fits in?

Just a butt-o-meter feel, yes. Drove around to get up to operation temp, and got on it. Can't wait to see what the mpg difference is, if any.

The metal O-ring is located on the plastic hose that goes from the elbow to the intercooler. ?The O-ring sits in a groove that is covered by a beefy stainless hose clamp, at least on my '06. There is a corresponding groove in the elbow, since air is pressurized in this hard plastic hose. Just don't try doing this mod when the temperature is well below freezing, as the plastic pipe shrinks and makes the old elbow difficult to remove, and the new one impossible to slip in. A heat gun is needed in cold temps. Mine is finally in. Can't really feel the 10+/- horses. Didn't notice significant mileage changes either. But we know every little bit helps. I got the polished aluminum Larson unit with the boost port up high. This unit is very thin, and will easily dent if you get physical with it. Not really a criticism, just stating it's limitations.

the EGR does just that send the exhaust gases back through the intake....and once the CCV oil's and vapors get into the intake as well that creates the nasty sticky black goo your seeing...

just installed my accufab elbow, it is actually very smooth inside for a cast part, just took a little sand paper to smooth it more but really didn't need to. It runs smoother and the acceleration is smoother. after driving a while I noticed another plus my turbo fart is gone .
