I have been looking for a correct tail light for my '54. In 1998 when I rebuilt my truck, I purchased round tail lights with the stainless steel trim around it from a catalog. They said these was were stock for 48-54. Since then I have found out that they were stock for 48-52. The 53-54 tail lights were round but but did not have the stainless trim. The red lens went over and around the tail light base.
I found a left one (with license plate light lens) on ebay. Does any one have a decent right tail light?
thanks!
PS: I know they sell them now in some catalogs but they are kind pricey, but will break down and get one if I have to, but I'm in no hurry.
Last night I looked at my catalogs. An older Carpenter catalog listed them as $70 each. Mid-Fifty listed them at $22. So not as pricey as I thought, don't know why carpenter is so high?
Still looking for that tail light Abe? I think I have one for you from my '54. If I do, it's yours as I like the look of the stainless/chrome look and wouldn't be using them anyway.

Abe - I checked and my tail lights are both the ones that go over the license plate and the lens has '67 stamped on them. So while the lens has the wrap around red plastic, someone in years past changed them to 1967 pods. Sorry, won't be able to help out this time

You have the late style lamps...and by the parts books (only) are correct, as Ford replaced the 1948/56 lamps with the newer style. Ford can be the curse of all of us that like to use original to the period Genuine Ford Parts, when they do this...most of the updating of parts numbers is totally un-neccessary.
So, if you need a lens, or the whole lamp..here's the numbers.
B9C-13450-A Lens, Rear Lamp-Round
C3TZ-13404-G Lamp Assy, Tallight-Round R/S
C3TZ-13405-H Lamp Assy, Taillight-Round L/S
Note the confusion...the lenses refer to the year 1959, while the entire lamp refers to 1963. More crappola...This change first occured in late 1957.
Note: These newer lamps were not used on pickups after 1956...they were used on F500 and larger trucks (inc. cabovers, line haulers, etc). They look similar to the early lamps, including the ones used on Model A's.
Further Note: The B9C 13450-A Lens is NOT the same round lens used on 1957/63 pickups or 1961/67 Econolines..that's a different round lens...confusing aint it!

Abe,
I looked, Looked, and looked some more with no luck. I did find some other stuff I'd been looking for! Sorry to get your hopes up, but if I run across it I'll let you know.
