tire size?

My 1983 F150 originally came with 215/75/15 tires. I am sure that the rims are original. It currently has 225/75/15 tires. Can I put 235/75/15 tires on these rims? Will it affect the speedometer?

Yes you can put those tires on the rims and yes it will affect the speedo. Somewhere on this site there are calculators to show you how far off it will be i believe.

as long as you keep the same sidewall ratio and rim size. (ie 75/15) it will not effect the speedo. the 235 is just the width.

the 75 is the aspect ratio. It is 75% of the width. So as the tire gets wider it also gets taller.

I am guessing that a taller tire, you will actually be going slower than what the speedo reads. As long as I don't have to worry about speeding, it doesn't matter. So, does a taller tire mean you are going slower or faster than what the speedo is reading?

Just the opposite. A taller tire means you will be going faster than your speedo says.
