i have a 92 f-150 inline 300 5 speed manual
had white foam in oil filler cal on top of valve cover i was told the was just moisture dont worry about. changed every gasket from head on up no foam was found for 4-5 days checked oil yesterday and now i have that same with faon the more or less covers entire dipstick, starting to concern me. she stil runs like a champ but WHY amd i getting the foam, and what do i do the fix it
Foam IS a result of condensation on the system. Best case: If you do a lot of "stop & start" driving (short trips) where the oil doesn't get hot it can't burn off the moisture. The worst case: Cooling fluid is getting into your oiling system.
I get white foam only on my oil filler cap in small amounts.
I agree with what Ken said about the condensation. If you are concerned that it may be coolant in the oil i would suggest doing a pressure test on the radiator. If the radiator hold pressure then you can rest easy that it is just condensation and not a more serious problem.
If it is condensation then make sure the T'stat is not stuck open and try to make sure the engine runs a operating temp to burn the condensation off.
