Check engine soon

The check engine soon light keeps coming on. The code is 0678 which is the #8 glow plug. This is the same code that was thrown before the replacement. I have replaced the glow plugs and the relay module. The light is still on! If I clear the DTC's with my programmer, the light goes off for several starts and then comes on again...Anybody have any ideas?

Did you check for any loose wiring when you changed the gps out? Did you ohm the gps out after you installed them? I would start by ohming out that gp with a multimeter and see if that checks out. Since it doesn't throw a code right away it might be a loose connection.

I checked for loose wiring but I didn't check them with an ohm meter. I guess the valve covers come off again?? When your saying gps, are you speaking of the relay module (gpm)? I'm a backyard mechanic thats not scared to tear in, but don't have a lot of deisel knowledge. I replaced the module and the plugs...

you can ohm test the GP's without taking off the VC. unplug the out side VC plug the two outer most pins (the bigger ones) on either end of the VC plug are the GP's. test them to ground they should be 1-2 ohms. that way you can know for sure there is a problem before you take the VC off again
