Cooling System
Hello to all fellow Ford drivers. I`m new here 
and have a question on the cooling system. I have read the shop and users manuels on changing the coolent. My problem here in Germany ( I`m retired Army) is I don`t have many choices on replacement coolents. The German Ford and parts guys say I`m crazy when I ask for HD coolant for my diesel. They say it doesn`t matter. So I go to the local military parts and service garage and ask for A low-silicate ethylene glycol-base coolant. They carry only two types. A premix 50/50 from peak and Prestone. So I asked for the HD prestone (Black bottle) and the guy said they only carry the NEW Perstone (yello jug). They said the new prestone ( and it says on the bottle) >New Formula, All Makes and All Models, mix with any color antifreeze. also says Extended life.
My question is can I use it and if not what options do I have??
I have had a friend send me the Ford additive and last time I was home I brought some with me in my luggage. (have been adding the stuff to my cooling system as directed in the PSD servicemanual)
So I`M confused on what to do!
Can anyone help me, for my options here are very few. and a mechanic also said I should use distilled water to mix with the antifreeze. any thoughts?
The prior changing of the cooling system was done by the military carage and I`m woundering what they had put it my truck last time they changed it.

If the 50/50 pre-mix from Peak or Preston is an ethylene glycol coolant, then either one will work and you would not need the distilled water, just add the correct amount of SCA. The reason for distilled water is that most city water systems add chemicals or the water may have a high iron, sulfur, etc. content.

The Prestone jug says: Contains ethylene glycol (107-21-1), diethylene glycol (111-46-6), soduim 2-ethyl hexanote (19766-89-3) and sodium nedecanote (31548-27-3) and I will try to find someone with some test strips over here or will have to have someone send me some. What should the reading be on the strips? Thanks
