Here is the deal Ford offered me. They will give me $23,000 for my truck minus $2700 for mileage and give me a $2000 rebate and I will have to pay
$2,400 plus tax,tag and title. So in 5 month the truck as dropped $5300 from the dealers cost and $7700.00 from my cost. Then they will put it back on the lot for 29,999. So back to square one.I cannot get executive service to call me back and I tried to deal with the General manager/part owner and he will not return my call. They are a volume dealer and they are not concerned about building a relationship with people who buy from them.I talked to a lawyer who said just write it off as a bad experience and move on. The cost to go after the dealership would not be in my best int.
LAST EDITED ON 01-Oct-00 AT 03:14 AM (EST)[p]My screw also has bfg long trail tires(have read that they are very good as far as customer satisfaction is concerned). The screw doesn't use
Firestone tires at all as far as i've seen. I too
got a letter from Ford about tires on screw, before I got letter about 96 Ranger that did have
Firestone's on it. I think they sent out letters to the newest owners first no matter what type of
tire you have. (in most cases they don't know excactly which tire goes on each veh.-esp. f150 which uses some Firestone Wilderness HT's and At's
). the 2wd drive Lariat screws come with BFG Long
trail's.
Im going thru something similar now. Mine is a 4x4 loaded xlt, 17" wheels, all options except leather. Paid 35k for it in August 2000. Since then have had the main PCM chip replaced, the engine had three coils that were not firing, had those replaced, then the truck started up/downshifting every time I touched the gas. Its actually the torque converter causing this. On my way home yesterday, I totally lost overdrive. Then the truck started making griding noises in the transmission and barely made it to the shop. Overall 20 days in the shop, in a total of 6 times, they still cant fix the darn thing. I was going to hire an attorney and simply sue the dealer. But instead, I involved my attorney in a media campaign. We are going to design 12 billboards, placed strategically around this dealership, explaining the facts of this product and the lack of service I have received. Also working on setting up a website www.dontbuyford.com which will be advertised on the billboards. I sent the owner, the gm, service manager, salesman, my attorney and the head mechanic a certified letter explaining the plan, they have now told me they will get me a new truck and Ford will eat the trade in difference. Im sure a simple suit would not have worked because I cannot afford an attorney who could beat Fords legal dept. Just thought i'd pass this onto you, the billboards are only going to cost $1800, much cheaper than a lawsuit, and much more affordable than keeping this piece of crap truck once it falls out of warranty in June when it hits 36K miles. I have had two other f-150's that ran like tops, and needed gas and oil changes only, so im willing to try another new one. After that Im onto perhaps a GMC...Good luck!
ok....first of all, I am not going to "bash" all the chevy fans out there, but I AM a die hard FORD fan. I want to reply to this unsatisfied FORD customer. As everyone is saying, sometimes you get a bad truck or car with any manufacturer. Thanks to the Unions up north and the high demand for these trucks, the quality of ALL manufacturers have gone down...well, disappeared. My father is a die hard Chevy owner and he recently purchased a 2000 GMC 4x4 Sierra extended cab (four door). The day he got it, he called me over to see it and we were both surprised to see what GM has done to the engines. The intake manifold is now plastic. No, it is not the "snow shield", it is a PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD! The block is made of what looks to be a combination of "pig iron" and aluminum...looks real cheap. there is a little door that allows access to the positive battery cable mounted off of the block for jump starts....well, we opened the flimsy plastic door and that broke off immediately. Ok, the inside, on a trip to Colorado to elk hunt, we heard something like the passenger side door to be open...(wind noise) and found it to be the weather stripping from the top of the door. It was hanging down in the cab and the noise went away after I reached up and pushed it back into the track. After that, we kept hearing a squeek from the rear cab door. The door was not closing tight enough and every bump made it move a bit. We later found out that the rear latch was put on wrong. We had to loosen the bracket and move it closer about an 1/8th of an inch. The driver also better not be taller than 6'3" because the Chevy/GMC seat will not accomodate you. The absense of a right/middle console or armrest is a pain in the %ss too. The armrest they give you feels real good digging in your side on an 18hour road trip. The absense of a removable oil pan was also a surprise to my former-grease monkey father. As far as Dodge goes, I have a friend that bought a 2000 Dodge 2500 dually/diesel. His tranny seal blew out at 1600 miles and then his clutch went at 5000 miles. Not to mention the ever lasting mystery squeeks from the dash. What I'm saying is that all manufacturers are spitting these trucks out so fast due to their high demand and the product you get is the luck of the draw. Good Luck to all.....
I just wanted to say that Chevy's are good trucks, BUT, like everyone said you get lemons sometimes. I've had three f-150 and put well over 130,000 on all of them without replacing a bulb. My dad and i were the only one's in my entire family who drove fords, for many years until now, everyone drives a ford pickup. I do think i would probably rather drive a chevy than push anything. I wouldn't buy a chevy because i personnaly don't care for them to much. And a side note the 5.4 doesn't have 260 horsepower, Motor Trend dinoed it at 280 horsepower, i don't know if anyone has heard that or not, but that's what i read. The reason they did that is to promote the V-10, so i read. There must be some reason Ford is the number one selling truck 23yrs. running. Go Ford!!!!
I can't believe you are getting the brush off you are describing. No I am not doubting you, I can't believe ford would do that. Your truck cost $1540 a month!! I am not even going to convert that into Canadian $; too scary. Does kind of get a person a bit riled though, you know free speech for all and a fair deal. I am no idealist and did not just wake up but maybe more people should know about your experience. I hardly think that a free editorial in all the local papers titled "It sucks to be me" with an account of the maintenance records since your truck was (still is) new could be described as slanderous or libelous. Believe me there is no offense intended here. I am a bit of a terrier and I think you should be fully satisfied with your purchase no matter who made the vehicle or whatever product for that matter. Do you have a better business bureau? Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease; become a $7,000 pain in the butt!
I love my Ford. This issue is about one vehicle and one dealer.
Nice to know that there are tech's and service managers here who read this stuff because I will now tell them that Many of us who bought 2001 Supercrews with the class 3 towing package paid 360.00 and did not get what we paid for. These trucks are supposed to have the supercooling radiator no. YL3Z-8005-GA which is 1.42 inches thick. Many owners did not get this radiator but instead got the radiator XL3H-8005-AB which is 1.02 inches thick and is the standard radiator not the supercooling radiator.
Now we all know how well we are treated at the dealership when they want your money lets see how they treat you when you tell them this.
First the parts people don't know ##### only numbers, and they are basically lazy people who won't go the extra mile to help you find out any imforemation on these radiators.
Secondly the service managers won't do ##### because they don't want to make waves in fear of loosing their jobs.
So if you want the correct radiator I can save you a lot of time and aggrevation go straight to the owner tell him the deal if he doesn't give you what you paid for take him to court.
I was a GMC fan ever since I could buy a truck. But I have to disagree with you about the
Ford Supercrew F-150. I just bought me a KingRanch edition and is very please with it. Maybe the blame should go to the dealer and yourself for not checking out the truck better, especially if you are the one spending all the money. The KingRanch F-150 Supercrew has a much better interior than any other brand of truck out there. Next time be more careful on your investment, even chevy and gmc have bad trucks that come off the line.
Last update. The General Manager has refused to talk to me instead pushing me off to a sales person. Ford executive service never returns my calls.Spoke with a Lawyer who said the cost of litigation would be not be worth it. To expensive. I have decided to abandon my efforts to resolve this issue. I have started a new business I do not have the time to waste with a company or dealership who are not bothered by my dissatisfaction.
I do have to try to find a dealership close by who can service my truck. I have to say I took the truck on a long trip and it was a great ride. I do like the truck despite the problems. Would I buy another yes, Only if I new I could deal with a top quality dealership. When you buy one of the dealerships most expensive trucks they should roll out the red carpet for you. Chevy would make special accommodation to work on my truck and also always washed it for. That is service. Thanks for all the support and feedback for everyone.
I just bought a s/crew King Ranch. So far, so good (only 200 miles on it ). I also happen to be an attorney. In my state there are "lemon laws" that, under certain circumstances, require the dealer to replace or buy back a clearly defective vehicle. I would suggest that you check and see if your state has similar laws. I have handled several lemon law cases, and each time I was able to get my client's vehicle replaced, or the "adjusted" purchase price refunded without litigation. I have also had limited success with the state consumer protection people putting pressure on the dealership to "do the right thing". Haven't yet tried the "billboard" approach. Hmmm...
I don't blame you. You worked hard for that truck and you paied darn good money for it. It's true that every mass produced products example cars and trucks do have a bad one every so offten. I belive that is is part Ford's Co. falt, however it is mostly the dealers fault for delivering such a poor truck. It's the dealers job to deliver the truck to the customer flaw free and clean. If he or she was a good sales person then that person would notify you that your truck has flaws and should try to fix them before dilivery or get you another truck. I am a Ford man all the way. I would like to know where you purchased the truck from so I'll know never to buy a truck form that dealer ever. It is a true fact that Ford does have good quality and makes greate trucks. I'm sure you will/would be happier with a flaw free Ford Truck. I am concidering a Ford F150 SuperCrew also and so far I have heard only good thing about it. 10 people in my community say they like love it, good ride, good a/c, quite interior, ect. You Deserve better treatmet from your dealer. Tell him get it fixed or get you a new one.
The lemon law in the state of Florida only covers repeating problems with the vehicle that prohibit you from using or driving your vehicle. Poor workmanship in the paint is not covered. I have learned a good lesson from all this. As for who the dealership is, I will not say. But they are the largest volume dealer in Central Florida. I figure I will hold on to the vehicle for 3-4 years then sell it and buy a new truck. The new truck will not be a Ford because I refuse to deal with companies and dealerships who show no customer focus or want to build loyalty. My next vehicle will be a H2SUT check them out they are awsome vehicles that come out later this year, early 2002
www.hummer.com Smaller version of the hum-v with half the cost. Until Ford changes in my area I will stay away.
I hate to admit it, but a lot of the problems I'm reading about are with my truck too. Mine will be going to the dealer next week for as long as it takes to fix the alignment, (front tires wearing on the outside after 10K miles), seal around the rear slider window incorrectly installed, I hope it hasn't been leaking where I can't see it, loose driver side door panel, cuts appearing on the edge of the passenger side airbag cover when the interior is hot... the list goes on. I've always owned Fords, and I love this truck... I just wish it was put together a with a little more attention to detail. Come on Ford, check 'em before you ship 'em.
