What are those of you with the V-10, or those of you who know someone with one getting for gas mileage? What does everyone recommend for getting better mileage, ierogrammer, intake, exhaust, that sort of stuff. Thanks guys.
I put the Banks Power Pack system on my V-10 and I put in a throttlebody spacer. I'm getting a little better mileage, but not a huge difference. I don't think there is any miracle cure for fuel economy. I'm getting around 15 on the highway empty, pulling around 11.5 to 12. If you find anything that helps please let me know and I will likewise do the same. Remember that when you do any mods to the engine or exhaust or change tire size from factory that it messes with the odometer. This can affect what you think you are getting for mileage.

Reason: add
Huntinzombie, you can adjust for that by checking your odometer reading between mile markers on the freeway. I have to do that now with my F-150 and have found that for every ten miles on the odometer, I have to add one.
This question comes up a lot...check out the V10 forum an you will find many threads regarding mpg...
Most get about the same as I do...12-14 back and forth, unloaded.....9-11 towing.
Mine is very cvonsistent. I got 13.3 last tank of gas for back and forth to work (50% highway), and I almost always get 10-10.5 towing our 5th wheel...I don't go real far and it is mostly flat land.
Some guys have tried air intake, exhaust systems (the V10 sounds like crap in most cases with a non-stock muffler), programmers, etc., etc., etc.
The newer v10's are pretty maxed out for power and mpg from the factory...Ford did a really good job here. So, the bottom line is that most of these add-ons only cost money, with very little, if any, performance gains and almost no increase in mpg.
I tried a Gibson cat back system on mine...for TWO WEEKS. It sounded awful, I lost a lot of low end torque, and mog went way down...so I put the original exhaust back on and have been happy ever since....
In short, when you buy a 6000 pound truck with a 10 cylinder engine, there is little hope of increasing the mpg...I knew that when I bought mine, and I quit swearing everytime I gas up...my wife told me to STOP IT...
