I bought an Escape 07 and haven't been able to use the MP3 capability, I always get the same error message "BAD CD" when load the CD player with a MP3 CD.
The audio system is a Premium Satellite Compatible AM/FM Stereo In-Dash Six CD/MP3 Radio, it says MP3 capable, but it doesn't work but MP3 CD it only accepts regular tracks.
Thanks for the welcome and your suggestions. Definitely no label on the CD, but a MP3 CD is most likely to be a homemade one, I don't understand what the guide means with MP3 Capable... Is there any what to switch the mode from Track to MP3 capability ?
it's very possible you have your mp3 files labeled wrong. they need to be .mp3, just as windows media files need .wma. or it's very possible your cd media isn't compatible with your optical drive you have. try using different brands. usually more expensive brands are better at being read by most drives. cheaps cd's sometimes won't be read by certain brands of drives, or even worse just won't be read because it's so cheap.
oh yeah, and it's possible you have auto boot, auto run, auto start or whatever equivalent burned on your cd automatically because that was chosen as a preference for all cd's.
The cd media I am using is data CD not audio but what is really odd it's that I used the same kind of CDs "Sony" to create an Audio CD (Tracks) which plays really well in this cd player, but it doesn't happen the same with the MP3 CD (Data). I used drag-and-drop procedure to create the MP3 CD but I will follow your suggestions and try with different brands, media type and using mp3 CD burner software ...
I got to the bottom of it !! I used a MP3 CD Burner software and a different brand of CD but still CD for data (regular CD), so I would assume the software to burn the MP3 CD make the difference, I would not recommend burning a MP3 CD via drag-and-drop since it looks like the CD player looks for any kind of format or extra information.
I'm having the exact same problems.
I cant get any cd's that I burn to work. Nor can I get the cd's that worked perfectly fine in my prior vehicle for the last 6-12 months to work either.
While there is no "MP3" logos on the face of my stereo one has to wonder what the heck the "folder" button is for ???? Also, when I bought it they listed the stereo as mp3 and satellite capable.
The owner's guide mentions that Ford CD units are designed to play "commercially pressed" audio compact disks however that's really contradictory at least in the case of MP3 CDs since these ones are usually created at home with PC burners or so which are based on laser....
I was able to burn MP3 files on a data CD and worked perfect but after using software to create the MP3 CD, I have noticed that these units may be a little bit "picky" and that could be why your old CDs that just worked fine once now do not work any longer in this CD player...
The Folder buttons let you navigate through the directories on the CD when in MP3 mode, SAT should work directly from your stereo if you have previously installed a satellite radio solution ...
I used a trial of "Acoustica MP3 CD Burner" but you can use any other software, you can get many on Internet. Same with CD media, I kept using Sony CD-R (Data) to show the problem was the way how the CD was burned and not the media, but you can use any other brand, there may be better ones around. I hope it helps...
ewwww... i personally try to stay away from sony when possible. they treat consumers like crackheads. they're not as high quality as most persons would like to believe. and when kutaragi told the global public that "we can sell 5 million ps3's easily without ever releasing a game." no. no. hell no.
