dead truck
OK... first post, big problem.... I bought a 85 Bronco XLT with the 4.9l auto.... well my wife was driving it home following me and I look in my rearview and she's pulling over to the side of the road.... I go back and it overheated..... well I called up my Grandpa and he grabed his dolly and we towed it back to his house(still quite a ways from home and didn't want to drive it to have it overheat again).... we found the issue was the thermostat was stuck, so I bought a new one and replaced the old one. Went to go fire it up, and it wouldn't start!
It would crank and crank, but not fire.... any idea what the problem might be? We've checked the ignition module, and the seliniod, they both seem OK.....
Help....??

Could be a thousand things - overheating is very damaging to the engine components - and to any electronics. Electronics despise heat.
Try all the obvious and simple things first - the ignition system - from the battery to the sparkplugs - look for loose or broken or damaged components. Check the distributor for trouble - you might try rotating it until engine starts and retime immediately.
Check fuel delivery system - pressure etc...
If you have a fuel inertia switch - reset it if it tripped.
I would guess something fried in the electronics side - sensors - temp sensor etc...
As an additional tip - with coolant trouble - you should check your oil for any signs of coolant leaking into the pan.
Good luck dude.
