I have a 06 F-150, 4X4, 5.4, Lariat Scab 5.5 bed.
Now the dilemma. I have an 01 chevy s-10 blazer, broke down 288 miles from my house. I want to rent a car hauler from hertz and go get it. Will my truck handle it. Gotta do this in two or three days 'cause where it is parked the people are gonna get it towed, for more expense to me.
Rent a DOLLY, BUT MAKE SURE THE HOLD DOWN STRAPS ARE LONG ENOUGH!!!
A few friends have had accidents with them - one wiped out a rim when it had a tire leave the dolly and get dragged. Another had a van come over the top of the dolly and over it!
USE CHAINS if you can.
The best way is with a full car-hauler trailer. And if you do that, even if you have to back the vehicle up onto it - make sure it is TONGUE HEAVY. Put the most load in the front so it does not sway.

Thanks for the quick answers. I have to put in on a full trailer. I cannot dolly it. The rear end is messed up and so is the front end. Some day in the general area I will expound on this funny experience.
Yep I have a very slow 288 mile trip coming up. Heck I will just listen to some good music, and enjoy the ride. Wind can be a problem in Southern Nevada this time of year. Maybe I will get lucky and get a calm day.
