390 were offered in 1968. 352 grew to 360. there was a 390 emblem placed on the lower bottom part of the front fenders,next to the doors. I belived this emblem was only used thur the 1972 model year. 390 were offer thur the1976 model year. 351/400m repaced all FE engines in1977 . 460in1977 also

Measuring the stroke is about the only way to disclose the difference.
An unmolested engine could have an id tag under the coil.
