tranny question
Recently I was in a car accident and as result my front axle was shifted. The front drive shaft was then pushed into the transfercase, which twisted and broke off the end caseing of the transmission. My question is I just bought a 79 bronco that has the same drive train as my truck but i have been told that a bronco tail shaft is about 4 inches shorter that a truck. Are the tail shafts changable? I noticed that ther are bolts around the tail shaft just in front of where the transfercase bolts on to the tranny. Any help would be appreciated. The tranny I write about it a C-6

If you are talking about the tail shaft houseing you can change it. Remove the transfer case and then the other bolts holding the houseing to the trans. If the output shaft is damaged, the trans. will have to come apart to replace it. I do not know if they are the same length.
