Now the Lie-Master computer indicated as much as 25.
I fully expect my new 08 F450 w/4:88's to avg (once worn in) about 11-13 highway driving. If I get more, than I'll be happier...
You will never see 20+ if you are cruising over 70. I can get 22mpg if I set the cruise at 55mph. Somewhere around 60-65 it drops below 20mpg and keeps going down the more wind you put against it. This is in a '00 7.3 with 3.73s. At the speeds you're talking about I get about the same.

The mileage I refered to is fairly consistant, I understand my truck was best at or below 2000 rpm, which was about 65ish. Even at a constant in that range mine never even touched 19mpg. Just mine though....Super Chipped to Tow Safe and Pinnacle Power's 4" Turbo back exhaust. I'm not arguing that some have seen the 20+ mark, just mine never did.
Back to the topic, Realizing what it is and what it's for.....If I see 15 on my new F450 w/4:88's I'll be thrilled. Obviously the more the better

Summer time I get 16.7, Winter time getting 14.6 (not towing) But I bought mine for towing my heavy 5th wheel, not mpg's. I use mine as a daily driver and the wife and I take it on the weekends where ever we go too just because I refuse to drive her Jap care and mine is fun to drive aswell.

Take care
Eddie

To be completely honest mine does have Banks exhaust, turbo and chip.

My dad has a 99 that is mechanically stock and has a superchips tune. And he sees about the same as you with mostly shortrang driving. Although my sister drove his truck on a 300 mile roundtrip and she claimed that she got 20. She never has been accused of being a math wiz though.

you put 4.88's in it, what were you thinking of getting. im putting in 3.73 gears but i dont pull a heavy trailer. mine is more set up for snowplowing and it is also a dump truck. better buy a motorcycle for normal running around.

I have a 30' car trailer I tow, and my future plans may call for a 3 car stacker, which is quite a bit of weight. I sent you PM regarding the snowplowing.......

just took delivery of a 2008 ford f250 Lariat 6.4 with 3.73 I am getting about 13 mpg and that is what is showing on the computer and what i found playing with it is on the highway at below 2000rpm it gets about 14.5 to 15 and in town it gets 11.0 to 11.5 having said that I am not sur why it is so low my body just purchased a 2007 ford f250 6.0 with 3.73 and i drove his about 2 weeks ago and it had about 1500 miles on it and beleive me his computer was showing on 19.0 to 19.5 mpg on 130 mile trip on the freeway so I am not disapointed yet but i will wait till my truck get to same mileage as his truck and see.
having said that this is my first truck and I would not mind getting less mpg than he is getting just because I love this truck inside and outside and beleive me my MSRP was 56,930.00 so mine is loaded with every option available. this truck looks better that chevy and dodge.
one thing is disapointing so far is we want to add a rear view camera to the GPS and they told us it is impossible but I am still researching this as there are other ford products with the same navigation system as the one in my truck that have rearview camera so why not the superduty which needs it I have crewcab with the 8 foot bed on it byt he way it has back up sensors.
if anyone know how to resolve this issue for me I would very greatfull.

"add a rear view camera to the GPS and they told us it is impossible but I am still researching...."

If you find anything out let me know.

I just picked up my 08 F450 with 4.88's. I have put 260 miles on it. The lie-o-meter is reading 9.5mpg. I will do the figures manually after I have run a few tanks thru it to get a good average, however I still have more than 1/2 tank of fuel showing so unless the fuel gauge is off more than it usually is, I am guessing that this is going to be pretty close. For what I am driving I am not dissappointed yet. The real test is going to be when I hook up to the 18k trailer and find out if it was all worth it.

I will let you know beleive me it is my project for next week to call anyone and everyone that has anything to do with this truck regarding the rearview camera story. and by the way i called pionner techs and they say they could not help me I have to talk to ford and remember this is ford not bmw or porsche so wish me good luck.
