AOD Front Pump Help

I just finished rebuilding a AOD. The problem is that when I bolt the pump down, nothing turns. Turns fine without the pump though. I thought maybe a thicker washer under the pump might help but I'm not sure? I took the trans apart 3 times to make sure everything was seated as far down in the case as it should. The washer is the only thing I could think of that would solve this. Thanks for any help.

A thicker washer would only make things worse.

Start from the beginning.

What did you replace?

I replaced bushings, seals, clutches, bands, the usual rebuild stuff. There is a snap ring underneath the forward clutches(I think thats the pack I'm thinking of) so I know everything under the ring is down as far as it should be. I've spent hours checking to see if the top half fell down all the way. I don't know what else to look for.

Take it apart and start from the beginning.
You either have a washer out of position or a clutch plate that is not fully engaged.
