Canadian Newbie

Hi folks! I'm here because Ford, unlike most other Manufacturers used to make their cars, trucks and engines 'user-friendly'. I've got a rust-free Mexican 1979 Fairmont woody wagon, that has been our daily driver since 1997, when we bought it in Guadaljara, MX. We moved back to Canada in 1999, and have maintained it rust-free and in great shape.

I wanted to change to a 3.3L I6 for a long time to take advantage of the fuel economy, without losing too much HP. I started in November, but Mother Nature got too cold (don't have a garage) and now (February) too snowy. Well, I had to use the K-Member for the six, but kept the V-8 k-member because a V-4 bolts right in. While the six will give us good service, I plan on getting one of the small V-4 Ford Ranger diesels and rebuilding/ tweaking it, unless I can get an efficient V-6 diesel. Then I can make my own ethanol mix and add newer emissions tech to clean it up even more. I love this car's serviceability, and figure it would cost too much to help the 1st generation hybrid vendors to cut their teeth at my expense. So I'll DIY, myself!

Thanks for the quick welcome and tips. Yeah I noticed the Manitoba Chapter link, thanks. I just thought I'd slewth out the site a bit and then dig in. I used to race Hemi-powered hemis in the '70's with my dad. This is car number 78, since 1965. Its my 3rd Ford (1964 comet, new 1981 Futura Wagon, and this 1979 Fairmont Squire, and I gotta say that we have a love affair (the car and I and my wife). It's just a gem!

Hey! We can't have that can we! Imagine them thar oil-rich Saskabushians outnumbering Ford members?

A couple of my pals own a couple of Ford fleets (older trucks) and they've been asking me where to find good Ford Truck info. All I had was the FordSiz.com site, until now...
