well I just ordered the 5" straight pipe kit with 6"tip from mike on ebay. I just wanted to see if anybody had any words of wisdom for me on installation while i wait for it to get here!! and roughlly how long does the install take??
congrats!! my friend and i installed the same system on his 99 and it went really smooth. took us about 3 hours. super easy, just get a buddy to help with the downpipe.
My down pipe is hitting the passenger side head. I've tried several times to align and can't get it the way is sits. Gonna have to pound the downpipe in a little to clear. Seems to be a great product and I love the sound. Just make sure it isn't touching anywhere before you tighten everything down. When you use the provided clamps on the joints they tend to want to bend the pipe if you really crank on it. This will make it hard to take apart and reinstall if you ever have to do something like I am.
No, they are u-bolt type clamps over the exhaust joints. And same type of clamps with a rod welded to them for the hangers. I sprayed mine with 1200* stove paint found at the local hardware store for $5 a can. BTW, thanks Ron. It took two cans and should help slow the salt and other elements from rusting it out. Plus it looks cool (gotta luv the flat black).
You can do it yourself in 3 hour or better no problem. If you can get help with the downpipe. It is the only part of the install I felt like I needed two people. I tried it myself but with my clearance problem it was killing my back without an extra set of hands.
welcome to the canon club...I have marks 5" cannon and I love it..like stated above I painted mine black to prevent rusting and help it hide I little more under the truck..nothing looks worse then a 5"rusted up pipe..been there since last October and it still looks new..I even painted the hangers and clamps with silver stove paint..the down pipe near the head was very tight fit..it just barely gets by there but it went...the 1st strait piece by the Trans is flattened out to go by the cross member..it looks like UPS might have trashed it so don't get nervous when you see this..it should be the only dent in the system...after it is installed you may hear some jingling under there.that would be the washers on the hangers..I used some form a gasket on the washers and it stopped it..other then that its a nice set up and I'm still grinning when she fires up..remember this system is made for a long bed crew cab so you may need to cut the last strait pipe to fit your body and cab set up...good luck with the install and use PB blast or the like for the turbo clamp the night before and just be for you take it apart.let us know how you like it...

when you get to putting the tail pipe on, drop the spair down some, push it over to the drivers side an raise back up...this will save lots of time trying to adjust it an give you more room! i spent an hour trying to get the pipe adjust so it wouldnt rub the tire or the shock...when i moved the tire i had it adjusted in 5 min (should have done it in the first place) youll love the sound...now thats its getten warm out the pass window is commen down more often
after all this reading about it i can't wait for it to get here. that isn't good news about the spare tire when i bought my truck it has the lock for the spare but my truck never came with the key. does anyone know a way to get the lock out without it??
