Hutch problem

Well I dropped the fuel tank and did the hutch and harpoon mod today. When I got in there the screen inside the pick up umbrella was not there. I completely emptied the tank looking for it to no avail. Of course it is Sunday and the stealership is closed cannot buy one. So I completed the mods minus the screen and threw it all back together so I can go to work in the am. Do I just not worry about it or do I get another one and tear into it again next week?

I don't think I'd worry about it much unless you found a lot of junk in the tank. My tank was exceptionally clean at over 200k miles - I'm not sure if that's uncommon or not... If you eliminated the quick-connects leading from the tank to the pump, I'd just cut in an inline filter before the pump & call it a day. If you didn't, those QC's are half the reason for doing the Hutch job in the first place. I don't think it's worthwhile dropping the tank for that umbrella screen at all.

Good luck with it. Those mods definitely quieted down my F250.

You did install a pre pump filter didn't you. All that screen will do is keep the tube from sucking up a rock and clogging it

I did put an inline filter pre-pump. And that is why I was kinda like thinking it wasn't worth it to tear into it again. I just wanted to get a concensus on the subject. So I have one vote for no. Thanks for the reply

My pickup is a 5/8 hard line with nothing on the bottom. You'll be fine.

I make my own fuel and run it 99.8 percent of the time so I am the one that controls what goes in my tank. And man that thing was spotless. I filter my fuel down to 5 microns before it goes in the truck so rocks should be no problem. Then with the Baldwin spin on from ITP's kit it should be doubly safe. Thanks for the replies just needed the reassurance.

Well, if you have the ITP kit, then the "foot" is just for the hell of it. I did it because I wanted to make sure the depth was correct. I didn't even bother with the screen on the foot. Last I saw it, the screen was in the trasher.

You'll be fine with just the pre-pump filter. What?, no brackets needed? hahahaha!

Mine is just a hard line directly down to the bottom tank, measure to be the same distance it was with the foot. I added a screen on the pickup tube, just to prevent debris from getting in there, because i did have one rock get stuck in there.
