Heater creaking

Sometimes when I turn my the heat on (mostly the windshield defrost) there is a horrible sound that comes from the passenger side dash area. It sounds like a door is creaking real loud.

Today it happened while my girlfriend was with me, so now I know I am not hearing things.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? (07 F150)

As far as i know, its the barrings in the fan going out. Or the fan motor its self. At least thats what I've been told for my heaters.

I hear it on my truck too, it’s just one of the doors in the air ducts moving. Mine's not unreasonably loud though.

I agree with screwy, I often hear it as a soft grinding noise in my '05 (XL). Then some have (incl. myself) heard a noise on shut-off of the truck. Seems to be thunk..clunk or a grinding noise...in the same general vicinty.
