Wow...

So I have had my DP-Tuner for quite some time and really liked it though never got boost over 22ish, never set off the SES light and never had a serious amount of smoke. Mind you my highest setting is 80e and every day think that I should have gotten 140 too.

Anyway, I tighten all my boots yesterday and boy will I tell you, they were loose. Not more than 4 full revolutions each but that seems like a lot. Immediatley I noticed that my boost would build to 20+ at less than 40mph, I got up to 24 or 25 before the motor defueled. I even set off the SES a couple times. It's great, my grin is bigger.

So I think that this may be part of my 10-11 mpg I had recently. I think that I am going to replace my CPS and get a new one on evilbay. I'll fill up tomorrow and hopefully see a significant increase in mileage.

How often do you guys check the boots? how fast do they get loose?

My EGT's are at least 100 degrees lower than a couple days ago.

I think that might have a lot to do with the mileage problems that I was experiencing. I will update this later this week.

Mileage is back up. With 85 miles I filled up with 13.5 mpg, mind you I can't seem to keep my foot out of it now. I'll try harder again to get better.

This is a return from 9-10 mpg at the coldest of winter (which had a lot of excessive idle). Some of it may have been in part to a fuel filter.

OK, so I have to ask: What's normal boost? Boost of 20+ at only 40MPH?? I've NEVER seen that, but only had the truck since October, and am beginning to think something's really wrong. I've never gotten above 15PSI, whether I'm in STOCK, 80E, or the 120 setting. I've got new boots (all 6 and a 6.0 IC) to put on but the weather is just not cooperating. So, any suggestions on where to start?

Sorry to hijack but I've been wondering about this, and if Scott's boost is normal, I've got something wrong big-time...

I can hit 22 easy in 80e but the truck defuels. I need a overboost annhilator from IDP.

Normal operation in 80e keeping it under 2000 rpm's, I run between 2-10 lbs. If i get on it I will get up to 15 pretty quick, and i can get up to 20lbs by 45 mph at WOT.

Hope this helps...

Turn till it stops, don't torq it.

There are two more, the connections to the IC, the one on the drivers side is easy to get to, the other is under the Radiator Reservior and a little harder but not much. There are two more but I have not even looked at them.

Hey Shenders99,

So just tighten them until they stop or snug....even the ones with springs? I just dont want to split any of the boots by over tightening.....I guess its time to break out the built in elbow torque wrench.

Did you get the boots on the lower end of those pipes? They are down low on either side of the radiator and tend to seep the most oil.

Would them seeping oil explain why there is alot of soot/dust stuck on the pipes? I guess I will check them in the morning.
