Could it be no gas?

I have an 86 F150 4x4 with a 300 and in about the last month I have noticed that the initial startup is fine, but when I would drive like 3 miles to the store and go in for like 15 minutes then come back out to start it, it wouldn't start. It's kind of hard to explain, but the oil pressure will go to like 20 and it will just keep turning, but won't start. It's due for an oil change, but I'm sure that isn't the problem, so I'm not sure if maybe it's not getting gas. When I turn the key to start it and press the gas pedal, it almost bogs it down and stops trying to turn over for a second, then when I let off it starts trying to start again. Takes about 2 minutes to get it going again. Does any of this make sense? Let me know if you have any ideas about what could be wrong. Thanks

my 84 had a similar prob it would start fine then id stop it for about 10 mins or so try to start it again and it would just crank. i never pinpointed it exactly but the problem stopped after i changed the dist. cap and rotor and put new plugs and wires. also after i did this on mine i read a thread that had said something about some of the dist. have a vent on the top that can allow moisture in. not sure if this helps you at all. but good luck

My I6 wouild not start this winter. Just cranked and cranked. I pulled a plug, no spark. Pulled the coil wire, no spark? Next stop was the dizzy cap. It had quite a build up of crap on all the posts. Don't forget the dist button where it sparks with the dizzy post. I use my pocket knife to scrape off the post. Fires right up now. Start there first. No cost, just time and a knife.
Still not sure why I did not see a spark from the coil. I might just have had a loose coil wire, but by messing around I some how stumbled on the "fix".
