whats the min oil preesure a motor can run without damage , i stabed an 84 5.0 ho out of a mustang into my 150 runs great but only pulls 12-15 at idle warm about 40 cold and 35-40 at 2k rpms , i know this low and i need to prob due cam bearings but How low is this really ?
I don't even think that these pressures are necessarily all that bad. They are pretty much the same as my 5.0 with 160,000 miles on her. The only real difference that I get is that my oil pressure guage shows about 60lbs from dead cold. My hot pressures are the same as yours.
To answer your question though, FORD sets their idiot guages and lights to show no oil pressure as soon as there is 7lbs of pressure or less.
Hopefully others will chime in here with their opinions - this is only my .02 - why do you think that you need to do cam bearings?
