i have a 93 f150 with a 300 auto 2wd. i believe that the timing chain jumped/ slipped what ever. it won't start and tries to but it just won't catch for lack of a better term. i know how to check it but it's freezing out side and i really don't need the truck for anything. i was actually fixing it just to sell it.
The 300 is a gear drive timing setup--has NO chain. Take the cap off the dist and turn the engine--does the rotor turn ??? No==stripped timing gear or broken dist drive gear pin. TFI modules usually just die and give no spark. Does it have spark??? Could be a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator. You have to add more information --do some trouble shooting.
it had an orange spark, so i changed the coil, and tried it again. I'm by my self so i'm not sure of spark quality now. but it acts like the timing is off.
it's in a 93, it's fuel injected. I haven't tore into a timing set on a 300. how bad is it? the screen name fits. I can turn wrenches with no problem. Can't be as bad a motor pull in an 05 f-150, i won't even bother with that.
