1990 F-250 7.3 NA I had to change my fuel filler pipes because the nozzles on the pumps in Mexico are to large to fit. Now that I have that done the fuel filter light comes on only when I use the rear tank. When I switch to the front tank it goes off. I change the filter about 2000 miles ago so it should be clean.
What are some of the reasons that this light comes on?
when replacing the tank fillers, the new cap doesn't vent and the tank vent is clogged/kinked. So you are pulling a vacuum on the tank.
try running it with the filler cap off
What are the reasons that the fuel filter light comes on? Does the light come on due to just a dirty filter or are there other symtoms to cause it to glow?

fuel filter light comes on for restricted fuel filters it comes on when there is a vaccum on the filter, the filter could be getting blocked, or lift pump could be getting weak since it has to work a tad harder to pull fuel from the rear tank, since you changed the filler pipes on the tanks take a look at the fuel lines from the rear tank to the selector valve and see if any are pinched
I got the problem fixed. It was a pinched fuel line off the rear tank.
THANKS FOR THE HELP
