While fueling up at the gas station today, someone asked me if I wanted to buy a Bronco for 200.00. I am sure it does not run, but the owner said it needs a new carb. Before I go and look at it on sat. (I drove by to check it out) -fri night-. what year did Ford start using EFI, the owner said the FSB was a 87
but it looks like a 84-86. So does this have a carb still. He said it was a 300 with 4sp. I may have a shot at getting it started if it is not EFI.
so I sould be ok with the 300 being carbed?
I do not feel like doing much computer related troubleshooting.
I still have to deal with bad fuel, no spark and so on and so on .
We'll see what the deal is tomorrow.
The body is looking old, but it would make a good work truck.
On the 300 6's a very common problem is the base gasket under the carb many times they will act like they need a carb rebuild and simply replaing this is all that is neded as they dry out and shrink.
bigunred,
I had a 77 f100 with carb problems, and it would not run because of that same gasket under the carb. At least when I had the problem back then, I was working with a friend of mine who raced mini mods, and he is pretty good around engines.
So we fixed it in no time.
This is one reason that I like carbed trucks without all the electronics.
I hope he still wants to sell it for 200.00, I will stop by today.
