Bouncy Speedometer
Well yall helped on my last post so here goes another.
1993 F150 300 auto trans 2wd.Problem?speedometer goes all over the place once speed hits 55 mph.Below 55 steady as a rock.Any ideas?

mine does this too, a 1995 F-150 351W E4OD. My 91 F-150 302 E4OD did it as well, screwed up the cruise control, but the newer truck it doesn't seem to effect the cruise. I would love to hear some help for this one as well, thanks!

check the Vehicle Speed Sensor, I believe it should be either in the tailshaft of your tranny, or the pumpkin of the rear axle. Your guys's are new enough that you have electronic speedo's in the dash, so it wouldn't be the cable.

It's in the pumpkin, and has been since '90, I think. I've heard a few in here mention finding chafed wiring about a foot from the sensor under one of the clamps or something. Check the wires from the VSS first to make sure they're not pinched or corroded, especially if you do any muddin in your 4x4's.

yep, you're right on that, did a little looking around, and the VSS is in the pumpkin, so like paint said, it could be a bad wiring thing (like a bad ground) or the sensor itself could be bad.
