I have a 2000 ranger with the demon mfs.after reading the posts on this forum i went to the stealer hoping it was going to be covered by a recall.NO, but for only $80 for the part and $140 labor i could have a new switch.Gee only $220 what a bargain.yea says the stealer pretty complicated job, half the dash has to come off.i'll think about it.found a switch online delivered for $44.
In the mean time waiting for new part i read a post about spraying elec contact spray cleaner into the switch, sounds good i'll try it.no more random off and on, great i'll return the new switch but i think i'll give it some time.
That lasted for 2 weeks and the demon returned. No problem i'll put the new switch in.Oh it was very complicated. It took me about 20 min total taking my time.
Thanks to everbody for their help.the only difference between the old and new is the part #'s.New is YL5Z-13K359-AAA. Old is YL5T-13K359-AAW, but new one seems to work fine.
Bummer!!!! OK, so now we know their program vehicle list needs up dating maybe!!!!
Why not send Ford an "E" mail about this, along with your VIN #, maybe if they get enough feedback they'll expand the service program.
They'd probably rather do that than have this become a major safety recall !!!!
Never can tell, maybe they'll reimburse you the cost of the switch for writing!!!!
I was fortunate enough to recieve a letter from Ford in 01, to take mine if for a no cost replacement under the 00B40 program. I went ahead & did so, even though I wasn't having any problems at the time.
Now that I've read of so many having problems, I'm glad I did. No problems to date with the new switch.
