Superchips

I have a 95 bronco (5.8) which i will be throwing a lot of bolt on upgrades. Anybody know of a chip maker out there that makes them for our bronco's? I got a superchip for my other car and I love it.

With 3.73 gearing and 35s you will NEVER get any kind of performance out of it.

here's something to think about=there's no replacement for displacement. you're already going to be tearing it pretty far apart doing the heads, go all the way and put in a cam and stroker kit. when I started modding my '01 Z28, I got a good increase with all the bolt ons, but with a 408 stroker kit, it was a totally different car. I know it's a different brand and different application (car not a truck), but you can take your time and keep your eyes and ears open and find a good deal on a stroker kit or maybe a good crate engine that someone has to sell because of a divorce or some other misfortune. even then, those gears and tires are gonna kill ALOT of the power you put under the hood, just like wileec said. I'm not too familiar with ford bronco PCMs, but I've actually still got the original PCM in my Z28 and it's cranking out 590 rwhp. See if you can have it programmed and save some $ to put towards a new motor or getting more cubes out of yours. just my .02--Rich

i agree, if your going to spend that kinda money stroke it. also know that a superchip wont help that with what your planning to run so no point spending on that chip.

also 373 gears wont work , you need 4.56 or 4.10 minimum. look into a lightning ecu and a tweecer to run this application regardless of building a stroker or not.

I was thinking about going to 4.10 but somone at the 4 wheel place said that wouldn't be necesarry. Also, I will eventually put a stroker in it. that is the last on my list. I was going to get all the bolt ons i can then go to the 392.

you'd probably see a pretty good difference just changing your gears and a couple light bolts ons, won't make it a 10 second vehicle, but it just the gears alone would make a noticable difference--Rich

you are either going to need a lightning ecu and tweecer or find a 95 302/e40d combo thats mass air and get the entire harness and ecu. then get it custom tuned or use the tweecer to tune.

superchip wont be able to tune your speed density enough to run a stroker.
you can leave your current efi alone and run those parts fine , just find a roller cam that has a 114*+ lobe seperation. a custom grind cam wouldnt hurt either. thats the key to speed density. I would also wait on heads till your ready for a stroker build, those 185's might be a tad small 205's would be much better.

what do you use your bko for? offroad or what?

So i can put the lightning ECU directly into my bronco?

I use it for wheelin and casual driving. It is not necessarily my everyday driver because I switch between the bronco and my 66 f250. But if I were able to get some more power out of her I would def. drive her more.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

BTW...I have an appointment to get my gears changed to 4.56 friday. Thanks for the advice.

And can not find the lightning ecu anywhere.

Pepper, so your current 5.8 bronco is mass air huh? it must be a cali model, which is rare just so you know. I would totally skip the superchip and go ahead and stroke this thing and plan on going to a dyno shop for a tune there. this will be a much better solution and get things spot on. superchip would be close but not 100% and with a build like this you want every ounce of snot.

So i put in the 4.56 gears....I'm glad I didn't go with the 3.73. The 456 are perfect. By the way does anyone know what route I ned to go to update my speedometer?

Also...I found that my bronco has some type of rare ECU. It already has a mass air meter and apparently I can get a tweecer and everything will be great. Also, Mike Glover, the guy over at tweecer, was a huge help. I found out a lot about my computer just by contacting him. He emailed me back whithin 30 minutes. He's another great resource.

thanks againf ro allyour help.
