8 lug compatability between what years

Does any one know when the 8 lug pattern changed? I have an 1986 F250 4x4 diesel and I bought a set of 8 lug rims that were said to be from an early 90's Ford but they do not fit. I thought the lug pattern stayed the same until 1999, is that right?

I thought the pattern was the same 42-96, but hub hole might vary. 97 or so, they went to metric.

i know for a fact they are all the same from 67-96 not sure if they are the same from 42-67 but they may be. Chevy and Dodge rims also use the same pattern

Gotta watch out for the Chevy rims though, as the stock rims tend to have a smaller center hole.
