Disturbing Trend

It is quite possibly superstition, but iI have encountered one hell of a disturbing trend in transmissions. We've had 3 E-150s all of the 87-91 range. And every single Gal darned time we changed the fluid, the damn thing craps out. My fluid is realitvly dirty and I want to change it, but this trend rears its ugly head.

Is there any basis to this, or is it just coincidence?

Never had one crap out but they seem to shift different for a while, harder engagement in the next gear which I' not very fond.

Yep every e4od I have changed fluid in ( not ones I bought new) Died. Thats 4 of them that seemed OK before but where dirty. Now I just run (If I buy them with 100000+ Miles) Till they die. I guess if its never been change it knocks garbage loose . I have a rebuilt one on shelf ready to go.

I don't know that anyone knows for sure why this happens, but my thinking is that when you flush it, the gunk gets flushed out. Sometimes the gunk was the only thing holding it together. If you have a tranny in that bad of shape to begin with, it doesn't matter whether you flush it or not, it's on its last legs.

I admit to being negligent when it comes to changing trans fluid and filters. I have never changed it on any of my trucks and have never had one to fail on me. My current '93 has 315,000 miles. I don't know when or if the fluid was ever changed, but it continues to work very well. I'm not recommending that anyone else adopt my plan, just sharing my experience.
