Engine oil mistake?

OK yet another question. I feel bad asking all this stuff but theres so much info here and smart people I just have to ask this stuff.

OK 1988 F150 302 EFI with 95500 Orginal miles. Truck has been sitting outback since june of 04. Been getting her running agine. I changed the oil as I should after all that time. Trying to be smart about it all. I used Pennziol PLATINUM Full Synthetic oil 10W-30 with a Fram Tough Guard oil filter.

I was out for a ride throught town tonight and happen to notice that my Oil Pressure is a little higher then the norm? WIth the motor warm and putting out heat My pressure gage was on the "L" of normal. Its normaly about the "R" Is that becouse of the Synthetic oil?

I had a 76 F100 with a 390 Years back that I put a high vol. oil pump on a new crank and bearing and got like 120 PSI cold. It would push the intake caskets out. I dont what that problem agine.

Is this the normal? Or maybe All the gunk for sitting has plugged the oil filter already? I have about 20/30 miles on the new oil and filter.

A couple things.

- The oil pressure gauge is just a dummy light. It will either read at 0 or about halfway up the scale. Any other deviations are electrical grounding issues.

- Don't use pennzoil oil.

- I wouldn't use synthetic on a motor that's been sitting for that long. It's far more likely to leak than if you use dino oil.

- NEVER use a Fram filter. They're of such poor quality you may as well not use a filter at all.

Your oil pressure may go up and down more often with the Fram filter. They have cardboard inside them, and Ive actually seen it inside some oil pans that people used fram filters. Dont use fram at all.

The 88 was the year before the dummy light gauges, so the reading will vary. I'd keep driving it, just keep a close eye on the oil pressure.

1) Ditch the Fram filter, it's a pile of junk

2) Use regualr oil with some Marvel Mystery oil blended in

3) Monitor the oil gauge everyone once in a while or install a mechanical gauge...
