A/C problem Help!!!!!

I have a 1999 F150 V-8 5.4. My a/c started to blow very hot air when put on high and in the low settings it's like a fan.

I bought a guage and a bottle of freon and when I checked the level it marks in the danger range (red).

How can I fix this. What is wrong? I thought I could just add freon. Please help!!!!!!

Mine did the same thing. It turned out to be the A/C clutch went bad.

Take a look at the compressor as your running your engine. have somebody kick on the a/c and see if the clutch/compressor engage.

Not sure if there is a fuse, but I would assume there is. Make sure that is not blown .

Be carefull with high pressure hose coming off the compressor. With that reading it will be very hot and under alot of pressure. You have a compressor problem.

perhaps there is air in your system or you have a blockage. Is there a bunch of crap or leaves or anything between your radiator and condenser? your high side pressure should be like 145 and low should be oh say 30 while the car is on. If you can measure them both you could tell us and we could help with zone diagnostics. you dont know what that is but we do and we can help

Whoa..

Take the truck to someone who knows what they're doing.

It is perfectly normal to have a high pressure reading on the low side port when the compressor isn't engaged. Since you already have this, you proabably don't need refrigerant, you need a proper diagnosis and repair, usually an electrical fault, sometimes the clutch.
