Ok, my 97 F150 2 wheel drive ABS light started flashing, flashes 16 times and on the 16th time it stays lite for a few seconds and then starts over. I made it home turned of the truck started it back up but now it will not come out of park. Any idea's?
Turn the ignition to RUN, but not START. Try to shift the tranny out of park this way. If it will switch, have someone press on the brake pedal and check to see if the brake lights come on. Also check for voltage with a test light on both sides of the BOO switch(With brake pedal depressed). If only voltage on one side, replace the switch....
so the brake light switch is also the shift enterlock switch? It is the only switch connectted to the pedal or arm unless there is one out by the booster. By the way, I do not have brake lights and thanks for the tip on getting it out of park, it worked.

Why? I don't have cruise and was never sent a recall??
If the presssure switch is present on your master cylinder, then the situation applies to you. The switch fails internally, leaks fluid into the connector, and if you're lucky, blows fuse F13. F13 takes out your brake lights, shifter interlock, causes a power fault for your RABS. If you're not lucky and the fuse doesn't blow, your truck burns up instead.
The RABS fault at the same time indicates this isn't a simple BOO switch problem.
If #13 is blown, call your dealer with your VIN to see if any recalls are open but Ford was unable to notify you.

Hello ASR GUNS, You say you put another brake light switch in this vehicle. Do you have voltage from both sides of the one that you just put in when the brake pedal is depressed? Do you have brake lights now? Have you checked ALL of your fuses for continuity? Do you have a high side or 3rd brake light and is it working ? Joe

hello, no, I still do not have brake lights nor is my 3rd brake light working, my parking lights work and my turn signals but no brake lights and my abs light is flashing. Checked fuses found none to be blown, have not tested voltage and I do not have a meter.
I realize that this may seem like a redundant question but did you check all the fuses. Including under the hood as well as in the operators compartment? You can pick up a simple 12vt test light from an autoparts dealer or Big Lots or dollar general for about 3-4 dollars. That purchase may be to your advantage. Remember when testing that some of the fuses may not be hot on both sides until a system is activated. An example of this would be the headlights. If you don't have a copy of the fuse schematic let us know and I am sure that someone can provide one for you or at least the location of certain fuses. You can also find it in your operators handbook if you have one.Joe
Ok, I was checking the wrong fuse, F13 was blown, it's a 15 amp. Sorry ProSho89. anyway, all I had wher some 25 amp fuses, I replaced it with one of them I will go to autozone atlunch and get the right one, but I have to wonder why it would blow?
