Here I go again!!!

Alright guys I posted a few days ago about wiring up my 12 volt gen. and thank you to Gusso for helping me out, but i'm stumped again. I went to look at my voltage regulator and it's not marked showing me where my Arm. Fld. or Bat. posts are. The cover for the voltage reg. is gone, on the three posts the one in the middle's not even hooked up, It's right there but not hooked up. I was thinking would it be better to just go ahead and put in a 12 volt voltage reg? Will I fry something in the truck if i do? I went ahead and priced one at auozone, but was afraid to go ahead and go thru with it. What do you guys think? And should I try to rewire myself or hook up the old wiring? Sorry guys i'm just stumped. You guys are the only ones i can turn too so ll help or wiring diagrms will be appreciated. Thanks JOE

It won't do any good to use a 6v regulator with a 12v generator; but it shouldn't hurt it either way, as long as you hook it up correctly. Left to right, with the terminals pointed down, the terminals are A - F - B, as in Armature, Field, Battery.

The person who converted my 6 volt generator to a 12 volt said I needed a 12 volt regulator. It was 36.00. maybe he saw an easy buck.

Mine come off of a later 50's ford, but if you find a 6 volt you can have it converted.

I have the 12 volt generator that I replaced with an alternator on my 60. Engine is a 292 Y-block. I used the brackets for the alternator but I still have the generator. It worked when I took it off. Send me a PM if you are interested in it.
