I posted this am about my 90 F350/460/E4OD/4wd throwing codes about 20 miles into my AM commute and the converter going in and out of lockup several times a minute. I bought a code reader and honestly cant figure out the KOEO pattern but the KOER gives the following. You get the initial single flash then a pause then the following pattern twice then it stopped flashing. 1 pause 7 pause 7 pause7 pause 4 pause 6 pause 5 pause then it starts back with the 7 7 7 4 6 5. I dont see this in my book of references. Can someone steer me in the right direction.
Thank You.
These codes most likely indicate that several switches were not cycled during the KOER test. Code 77="goose" test not done (the first code, 10, indicates that the technician is supposed to snap the throttle open momentarily), code 74= BOO (brake on/off switch) was open (pedal not pressed during KOER test is the most likely cause), and 65= Overdrive cancel switch did not change state (another switch that needs to be cycled during the KOER test). The memory codes will show up in the KOEO test after the on demand codes (if any are present). If your scanner is one of those that simply has a flashing light, the KOEO test will run like this: The light will flash quickly at first (this is read by the more advanced scanners), then the on-demand codes, a pause followed by a single flash (code 10), then the memory codes.
I'm guessing your codes will be either EGR or O2 sensor related since the light only comes on after a bit of driving, but you will need to get the memory codes from the KOEO test first.
