It's finally doing it to me too

Ok guys, I know about the oil pressure gauge, and how it is a light, but for the past couple of weeks it has been reading lower. I am not concerned in any way shape or form about the oil pressure. The guage looks pretty funky though when it's sitting around that first line close to L sometimes. I went so far as to ground out the wire going to teh sending unit manually, and with just the key ON it reads the same. That tells me that the sending unit is functioning normally.

I have a couple of questions:
-Is the guage messed up, or a common wiring problem to the guage, or anything than will make it read in the middle again?
-can i put in an ACTUAL sending unit and wire it to the ford gauge in the dash? what would i have to do to make this work? has anybody done it? it would be nice to have that factory guage in the dash to be a real gauge, without having extra stuff hangin around the dash.

Any ideas?

Gary

Do a search under oil sending unit. This problem was just addressed recently and the person gave instructions on how to change it over. I personally do not remember exactly what he recommended but you should be able to locate the info.
