crossover steering

What is crossover steering and does anyone have a pic of one installed. It seems to me that with a longer pitman arm your changing the levege point and also having to turn the steering wheel more to get the same effect. I noticed a difference right away after my lift even with stock tires it seemed like I had to turn the steering wheel more to make small corections. which made it feel like it had slop in the steering. everything is tight and I even had someone turn the wheel while I watch the pitman arm and it moved right when you touched the steering wheel. Im wondering if crossover steering would help this condition. From the little bit I heard was that it was suppose to make it steer easier.

Crossover steering moves the drag link from where it is attached to the tie-rod to a point higher up via a new knuckle with an added arm. Crossover steering is used because the lift (generally 8+ inches) on a truck has caused the angle of the drag link to become to great causing severe bumpsteer and binding.

Here's an example of crossover steering. Sorry, but it's the X-over steering from my rockcrawler, my SD doesn't have it.

You can see that the drag link is no longer attached to the tie-rod, but is instead attached to an arm on the knuckle reducing the drag link angle considerably.

I really don't know if X-over steering would help with your problem or not.

I run the Dynatrac SD Combo.....works on 6-12" lifts.

The truck does steer a lot better with it, IMO
