Coming from you, I'll accept that as PSD gospel.
My ongoing confusion is:
Is it the removal of the throttle plate as outlined by Matt's EGR/Throttle PLATE article or is it the removal of the entire throttle body, as alluded to by Aaron, of intakeelbows.com, "FYI- I sent one guy a newer elbow [05-07] yesterday for his older truck with the throttle body. He removed the throttle body (easy 4 bolts)..."

I have yet to open the hood on this, but I like to do my homework with great instruction, and this is the best place to get it.

My instructions were for removal of the throttle PLATE. However, once you have followed the disassembly procedure for the plate, the throttle body assembly is only held down by three small hex key fasteners from that point. Simply remove them and off it comes.

And then the 05-07 elbow should fit? I know this will make more sense once I get a look at it. Are you familiar with using the new style elbow on the '03. I'm gathering that the only difference is the plate. I'm looking to make the right choice when I order, but I must sound like I'm freaking out

You simply unbolt the 03/04 intake elbow AND 03/04 throttle plate and the 05/06/07 Elbow will bolt in place of both.

You will be one fastener short on the swapover, but you can simply take one of the 8mm bolts off of the old elbow and use it in place of the allen head bolts to bring the total up to 4. All of the fasteners on both the intake manifold, throttle plate, and elbow are the same thread count and pitch so mix and match as you like.
