1989 F-150 Problem

I got a 89 F-150 Lariet , 300I6 , 4spd w/ OD, it has a miss or something and we cant figure it out ... when you take off it bogs down bad ...and then it dies ...but it quit and we tried to crank it many times and it turns over and then backfires ...what could be the problem ?

start with checking your timing
may be timing chain

Yea, you need to check the timing. You might have jumped time or your distributer might be going out.

I thought the 300 I6 used timing gears that were in constant mesh.
