1968 F250 Camper special. Problem, no wire on the Sta conection at the Alternator. 3 wires at the reg, including a green with red tracer from the Sta tab. That wire goes into the firewall and even with the dash out I can't find it coming out anywhere? The back of the dash has continuity to that wire, (even though it is off the regulator). My Chilton and Motors books show a typical wiring deal with a white with black tracer going to the back of the alt Sta conection. That wht/blk is nowhere to be found? Does anyone have a diagram that might solve this issue? Is a Sta wire required? The problem was low output, especially at night while running lights and stuff. AND the Amp meter in the dash has never moved. This truck has been like this for a while without serious dead battery issues, until the other night. Switched to second battery and made it home.........Again, anyone have a diagram specific to this year?.........aMP
Oldcarmanual.com has a 64 wiring diagram.. not sure how much different it would be. http://www.tocmp.com/tOCMP/wiring/1964F100/index.htm sorry if it's of no help.. I have seen articles here about using relays for the headlights to assist in brighter lights and less drain. https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...r_Brights.html I would suspect a stuck regulator - overcharging while running then draining when shut down...but that just a guess out of left field.... BOL
Thanks, it appears to be simular to my old books but with greater detail... But still no indication of where that green/red wire is going, or that it even exists? Well daylight might help tomorrow.......Thanks..........
krewat, that explains alot. The 4th regulator lead isn't used with an ampmeter. And the Sta term on the alt isn't used either........Thanks, that gives me a fighting chance to sort this thing out...........aMP

Red wire with green stripes? That sounds like C0LF-12250-A Resistor wire to coil from ignition switch.
Well the amp gauge started working, shows a bit on the plus side but doesn't seem to recover when a load is applied, like headlights. I did however murder my fuel gauge while attempting to clean the dash plate. Seems the needle just swings on two springs and my attempts to put it back on failed......Another reason to remove the dash panel again..........Damm........Thanks for the help, aMP
