From what I know each crossmember is specific for each engine family. I had a 351W installed when I first bought my truck. I looked for a similar adapter as well it install a 460. I didn't come up with anything then. In the long run it may just be cheaper to buy the actual mounts and crossmember then tring to adapt it.

Thanks for the reply. How do you locate the new cross member on the frame rails of the truck? Do you have to wait untill you have the engine on a picker and mated to the transmission?

Thanks,

Welcome to (FTE)!

Good pick with the 351w, I really like the 351w, I have not had a 64 ford
truck in about 25years, so I will leave the ? to some one else who knows for
sure.

P.s. maybe consider making a motor plate, Like a drag car, mounts the engine
one in the front and one between the trans and the motor, the adapters are
probably made the same?

Well as Pro-Street mentioned you can use a set of motor plates. Although they are not very street friendly, no rubber mounts. The other three options I have seen first hand vary in skill and strength. Option 1: When I first bought my truck the PO was kind enough to use angle iron for brackets and bolted everything on top of the frame rails to clear the original rear cross member. I didn't like that setup for several reasons. 1, the drive angle was all wrong 2, the engine sat up way too high 3, I don't trust a few bolts holding the engine in. Option 2: Arrange the crossmember between the frame rails then slowly lower your engine to where you think is should be. If you notice the transmission hump is offset to the passenger side a few inches to clear the steering gearbox, keep this in mind. Once the engine is sitting right, mark the crossmember mounting flange bolt pattern on the frame with a center punch. Pull the engine back out and go to work fabricating the crossmember. Option 3: Butt weld two pieces of 2x3 angle steel together. Measure the hieght of the frame rail and add 1/8". Cut the butt welded angle to fit in between the frame. You may need a big hammer to get it in place. Trial fit the engine again but this time to see how much you will need to cut off the ends of the crossmember tube. Basically your wedging the crossmember in there. Once the measurements are made again add 1/8" in case you are off just a tad. Once it fit where you want it to go weld it in place and for added insurance against broken welds drill it for bolts as well. It's a lot easier to show you then explain it seems. If you want once the rain stops I will go take pictures of how I installed my mount. In the end I chose the last option to still have access to my front frame brake line fittings. Other wise I was going to add more holes to the frame which I didn't want to do.

F-100customcab, Welcome to the 61-66 forum.

Your truck has a front mount engine and you are going to a side mount. Most of the suppliers of our trucks parts sell the conversion. Get one for the 302, the W should fit perfectly. IMHO

my truck has a tublar crossmember that is bolted to the frame rails and the crossmember has big block mounts. You say that the 302 conversion will bolt to the crossmsmber and then bolt up to the 351.

What Jowilker is saying that the crossmember you have comes out. A 302 and 351W share the same block mounts so buy a new crossmember to put in the old ones place.
