I was hauling a large bale home last night, truck was running great. All of a sudden the CES light came on and the truck died & coasted to a stop. I turned the switch off and back on again, no wait to start light came on and she wouldn't fire. I plugged in my microtuner and tried to pull codes, the PCM wouldn't respond and I got a "no response" from the tuner. It booted up all right, but couldn't pull the DTC codes. I get no RPMs when turning it over and the over drive light says "OFF". Isn't there another sub test that can be done? Like toggling the key to ON 3 times? I did this and all the door locks activated. I checked all fuses and they were good, any ideas?
I've checked all the fuses, cept the big ones under the hood, mines an early 99 so I don't have the AIH. Is there a fuel heater? I cracked the fuel bowl drain and got a squirt of diesel, no gel I guess.
If the WTS light is not coming on the PCM is not getting power. There is a diode and relay under the hood, But the 30 is a common culprit. the fuel heater is in the bottom of the fuel bowl the two wire connector nect to the drain valve. Did you check the fuse with a multimeter or just visual.
Ok.. Checked the heater, bad, fuse ohmed out good. Took it to dealer who found a corroded wire causing no power to sensors in engine compartment. Truck runs now. The bugger has been starting real bad the last month of 0 degree weather. I need to replace the filter housing heater. Where is a good source. I have my local IH dealer looking into it also..
