I was up in Saskatoon this weekend and on Sunday went to Watrous for a swim. Before heading home I drove through Centennial Fords lot, they had a '08 f-350 crew 6.4l diesel 4X4. NICE TRUCK!!! Black in color with black leather interior, the MRSP on the window sticker was $64,000 . Way to rich for my blood!! Too bad they were closed, I would have loved to take it for a spin if they would have let Me!!
I really liked what Ford did with the 150 in '04 - a clean sheet of paper and an all new truck. I think Ford fell short of where it could have been with the Superduty for '08. Its just a 'freshening' of the old platform - new grille/headlights/mirrors, and a dash upgrade. What they really should have done is base it on the TONKA concept Superduty that they had out. A truck like that would have left the others scrambling. The Superduty has one of the best truck reputations out there. The 7.3 was awesome. The 6.0 was less than that (I feel its mostly due to the tightening emissions requirements and the complexity of getting diesels to burn clean). The 6.4 is unproven as of yet but the other makers are going to have problems as well - the Dmax gets the VGT turbo system that the 6.0 has. Dodge has a new engine out. All the diesels will be running exhaust particulate filters. I just think that a clean slate SD based on how everyone loved the Tonka, with a new 6.4 engine would have rocked the heavy pickup truck market!
Speaking of Tonka ", I seen a few ads on T.V.about the newToyota Tundra Trucks !! They got huge Disk Brakes, Big 10 0r 10.5 inch ring gears and the like. Looks like they want a piece of the big truck market too. I had a few Toyota trucks in the 70's and they were like the everyeddy bunny lol. Rusted to the nuts but kept going and going lol.
If Toyota, Nissan, or Honda would come up with a serious truck in the heavy duty segment, they would destroy the domestics just like they did in the car side of things. I would never buy a car from GM/Ford/Dodge! Better quality, more reliability, and higher fuel mileage.
Nissan does has serious trucks in the medium duty sizes (comparable to F650/750's), but the fullsize pickup market is yet untapped. If they came out with viable fullsize pickups, I think the domestics would have to really think things through.
Yeah actually my parents went watrous for a weekend away from the crazy kids to relax at the spa in watrous and got a picture of a black on black FX4 crewcab PSD very nice i could maybe post em up they are pricey oh my i saw a 04 F450 Crew loaded up for 72,000
Well since we are talking about fullsize import trucks if you have seen the all new Redesigned Tundra for 2007 with a 5.7L cranking out 381 hp and 401 lb ft of torque those look like they would give some of the domestics are run for the money have to wait and see actually look pretty snazzy
I drove the '08 w/6.4 engine yesterday in Humboldt. My impression:
- awesome interior kind of like the new 150 but sweeter
- engine was quiet - like Dmax
- less turbo lag than my 6.0
- power - didnt feel like any more than mine
- tailpipe is the ugliest thing around
- its not a totally new truck like the '04 f150 was --> wasn't impressed enough to want to fork over the $$$ to buy one

Couldnt have said that better myself. We are lucky they havent destroyed are beloved ford trucks, yet!
