Question Trans code/warning

Any help with this will be appreciated! The truck in question is a 2006 F-150 XLT 5.4 screw and this happened today...

Just as I was pulling into to work this morning, a "Trans code" started flashing on the message board, (where low fuel shows). Along with it was the check engine light as well. I pulled in and parked, shut off the motor, then restarted and worked thru the gears and 4 hi and low. Nothing seemed to work and was checking in case it was just possible plug problem. After work, the light was still showing even though fluids were fine and no leaks showing. After looking at the manual, it suggested " if the light persisted, take to dealer", So I carefully drove home. On the way the computer seemed to be trying to correct and did twice, but the problem is still there.

I plan on taking this to the dealer, but was curious if anyone has experienced this before?....And sorry this is so lengthy..

Thumbs down

Well I had it checked out and it seems the trans let loose. Upon closer inspection the pan,(as well as the filter), were filled with thumb nail-to-smaller sized chunks of metal. Not sure what happened but will keep a log here to let everyone know....
