I installed my dp tuner a few weeks ago. I cleaned the contact real good and i feel i have a good connection. I then also sealed it w/ duct tape. I have read some posts about corrosion on the contact causing it to stop working and this is why ford had silicone all over it. Do I need to reseal it with something or will the duct tape keep the contact safe from the corrosion for the most part any way.. I'm just thinkin for down the road I dont want issues ...Jeff
Jody has sold alot of these chips and has excellent customer service, i would think that if there was any sort of concern he would have included that in his detailed instructions. I just received my sheilded cable from him a couple of weeks ago, guess a couple people had some problems so he sent everyone a new cable to eliminate any chance of problems. Send him an email or call him if you are concerned but i don't think there is anything to worry about.
I had concerns about having it not start when I installed the cable, and it was just pulled loose from the main board. I found out later that IF there are any problems with the cable or box, you can pull the PCM and simply remove the cable. This will allow the PCM to use the stock setup, as I was told by those who know....the DP chip is a piggyback or add on to the stock chip so if there are any issues, remove the DP and it "should" run on the stock chip. If anyone knows anything different , please ring in. Hope this eases your mind. I was worried sick about the first long trip to Daytona after getting it done, but all was fine with no problems. Now I am looking for a way to mount the switch box.
