I ordered several cans of Zero Rust on Amazon the first week of January. They took my money, but I never received the product. I contacted Amazon about 2 weeks ago and they said they would look into it. I got an email today telling me Amazon was refunding my money. Mfg Sealants was the company that was supposed to be supplying me with the Zero Rust. I have never heard from then and I am not sure if they even exist anymore, if they ever did. Bottom line, Amazon treated me very fairly, but I still have no freaking paint...ARRRRRG
That sucks, but at least you're getting your money back.
I've never heard of Zero Rust, or Mfg Sealants, and I've been doing a fair amount of research on rust stopper/preventer for my current project. Then again, I didn't think Amazon would sell something like that...I thought they just sold bookstore type stuff.
I've had good results using both Eastwood's rust product on a floor pan replacement I did on 61 Metropolitan. I also last year used POR 15 on my Triumph stag. Both products worked for me and are easy to get.
I have bought Zero Rust from my local autobody supply store. I use both spray cans and the brush-on. They sometimes have to order it, but I have it that week.
I like Zero Rust very much and have used it in a lot of places on the truck. We'll have to see how well it stands up.
I did not spray the bottom of my truck with anything. Could I use spray cans of zero rust or something like that on it or should I just use a spray undercoating?
Kevin--you ought to spray bottom with a 0-rust type product first or at least rustoleum for heavy rust--even though it is not bad. Then go over that. The rustproof has a tendency to burn off or-if you have to do some work it is a mess.I have switched to CHASSIS-SAVER--it is cheaper than competition and for under the cab, looks good.
I do like the rattle-can of 0-rust but it is hard to find local.
I bought all my ZR from mfg sealants. They do or did exist. I haven't bought any in the last year. I did buy directly from their web site.
Sorry to hear of yor trouble.
Kevin, check out Eastwood, they have a good "rust encapsulator" that you should use first, then cover with undercoating. Also, there's a product called POR 15, google it and it'll take you to there web site.
Kevin--I never saw chassis saver in spray can form.I usually buy a quart of semi gloss black. This chassis saver seems cheaper -money wise than por15/rust bullet/and the others. You can get the rustoleum for industrial use red oxide heavy rust primer--LOWES/HOME DEPOT for 4.00 plus or minus in rattle cans and it works very well.I used it myself, and when it is handy to just use a spray can this is the way I go.I bought chassis saver from an auto parts store, and usually use a epoxy--or dp40--or something like that when it calls for an all out job.20 DEGREES OUTSIDE--i WOULD JUST USE THE RUST.HEAVY RUST-and be done. You can undercoat in an hour.
I got my refund from Amazon and ordered the same stuff again, this time from Raybuck. I received it the next day. Unbelievable, thats for the lead guys.
