Is there really a difference between all the hi-flow cats?
One company says their's flows the best while another says their's has unmatched quality while the other company says their's makes the most power while making your favorite coffee drink. For the price of some, maybe they should.
Iv'e heard that there is only one or two companys that make the core of what goes into these cats. If that's so then doesn't it really just come down to the size or diameter that makes the difference?
If I'm off on any of this please let me know.
Carsounds can be had in steel and stainless steel.
Their High Flow cats flow so good that it was hard to detect
the difference vs gutted cats plus clean on smog tests.
Would a hi-flow cat mess up my warranty. Sound wise, is it worth the switch if it was paires with a cat back system? There aren't really any power/ MPG gains, right?

Regarding waranty I believe that as long as the part is made for your application it should be ok. The only time it would be a problem is if you had an issue and the dealership could prove that the part was the cause.
Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
One of the reasons I'm getting a hi-flow cat is for the increase in MPG's, or at least that's what I'm telling the wife The truck currently gets an attractive 8.5 MPG's. Yes it's a 460 and no, I don't expect a gain to 11 or 12 from this change. Just an improvment.
From what I've read doing searches here is that a hi-flow cat will increase sound and a hi-flow cat can increase power, especially when changing to a larger size. I just didn't know if there was a real defference amongst all the brands.
The truck had a Flowmaster cat back on it already, so I'm going to enlarge from the factory 2 1/2" cat to a 3" and then run 3" pipe from the Y to the cat back. This will hopefully take advantage of what is on there, and maybe get more sound too!
Thanks everyone for giving me what looks to be the best choices.
I can't wait to get one ordered!
I give that thread an "A" for having 14 gauge stainless pipe but an "F" when reading their Cat is not approved for Cali. Don't forget the added cost of mandrel bent "J" or "U" pipe plus the cost of getting SS Mig or Tig welded without it being just steel Mig welded.
Makes one wonder how good they really cleanup you exhaust vs an approved
for Cali Cat?
I would rather run SS Highflow CarSounds, this I know works good with smog and flow here in California. Beware of cheap deals on Cats, it should cost you between $95 and $115 for SS 2 1/2" CarSound Cats approved for Cali., depends on your muffler shop or mail away.

Ok, so where are you guys finding the carsounds cats at for around 120 big ones?
I've been looking and am only finding the cat for the 460 at over $400!
Is it because it has the air pump fitting or am I internet challenged?
Don't awnser the latter part
Thanks,
Mark
If I understand correctly you have a 95 which is OB1, that vehicle has two O2 sensors up stream of your cats (one before each cat) and no air injection tube? What size is your exhaust pipe to the cats?

Just took a look, the pipes off the manifolds Y together into a 2 1/2" pipe. The O2 sensor is in that Y. After the Y the pipe goes to one cat with an air tube comming out, muffler is down from there.
