Want to get some advice- what do you guys think on a 302 out of the 96-01 explorers? I want/need a motor for a 55 f100 and thought about getting one of these from a yard because of the roller cam/lifters and gt40p heads. Plan on going with a dual plane manifold and carb. Probably change cam for more performance. What compression do these motor have? What are your opinions... trying to a budget build.
I'd take the engine, computer, harness, etc and use it as is. It's a good engine and you could swap cams and re-tune the computer. Unless you really want a carb why change it over. The SEFI is very tunable and they make some great aftermarket stuff to make them better. I'll send you my Holley 600CFM DP and Edelbrock RPM Air Gap for the complete upper and lower intakes, fuel rails, computer, harness, sensors, and MAF if you want to trade.

I may take you up on that. I want old school look as of now. I know the EFI is great with al the new vehicles. I just like looking at the maniflds and carbs on these old trucks. I have a lead on a mountaineer... should know something this week. Never swapped computer and stuff... very hard?
I've never done it myself but willing to give it a try. I live in Virginia and have a 66 F100 with a rollerized 302 (daily driver) with the Air Gap and it's just too cold of a setup for the winters here. It just takes a long time to get the manifold up to temps where you get good throttle response when its below 40 out. It will light up my 295/50's when its warm out. 4.11 rears and AOD trans. we can make a deal. Are you going to the F-100 Nats in Knoxville in May?

Still working on the Nat's. Can you tell what you've done with your 302 roller? What was the donor vehicle?
