It is offical 2 weks of training start on Tuesday morning at Class 1A. It's pretty nerve racking considering I have never driven a 13,15,or 18 or a 5x4 speed just ever driven 4x2 and 5x2. It's gonna be weird bet I'll be a smoker by Thursday. city driven in a 1 wheeler yikes.
I guess I will be driving a Peterbuilt Cat 13 speed with a 48ft. cube van.
good luck on your test...I almost got into trucking myself...when I moved here and seen there was no jobs in anything except driving or logging possibly mining but not much...I already have 7 grand in student loans for automotive mechanics.
Day 1 complete guess I'm doin fine. Got to drive on the grids, and shifting between 3-8 gears up and down over and over guess I did fine, since they are moning me into the city tommorrow. Yikes
I wonder if I would pass my 1A again? A guy develops lots of bad habits. I had the damn thing for about 25 years but drove semi before I was old enough to get license. I still remember some of the times we had on the road - used to haul lots into Washington, Oregon, and BC. Hauled a dry van all over the U.S. one winter. Hauled gravel from when I was 16 - Cab over freightliner / 290 Cummins / no jake / no ac / no power steering / twin stick transmission! Dad wondered why I started drinking beer!
Well today went very good, I was supposed to only drive South Indusrial but, today I also drove Circle Drive, Idlywyld, and North Industrial. It sounded like I was doing very very well.
I learned however I never knew how to top at a stop sign lol. I also learned when i do screw up I do SCREW up bad.

Didn't hit anything though.... sigh.
If you didnt hit anything it wasnt all that bad! It takes a bit of getting used to where everything ends up going around corners, you cant just swing as wide as you would like - you have to also block other vehicles from entering into that 'squeeze' area as you corner. It will come with time, as will the nervousness pass in dealing with traffic situations. Have fun, ask questions, and enjoy the 'birds eye view' of the female drivers out there!!!
